Varsity Lions stole the lead late in the game in a 10-9 victory over Archer High School on Tuesday. The game was tied at nine with Varsity Lions batting in the bottom of the sixth when D’Amani Gadson hit a solo homer.

Varsity Lions collected 11 hits and Archer High School had 11 in the high-scoring affair.

Archer High School opened up an early lead in the second inning when Hollingsworth hit a solo homer.

Varsity Lions put up six runs in the fifth inning. Varsity Lions offense in the inning was led by Ava Lunsford, Elle Lunsford, Juhles Kelly, and Sidney Strange, all driving in runs in the inning.

Archer High School scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Archer High School came thanks to singles by Berkhiser and Barth and an error on a ball put in play by Walls.

Gadson got the win for Varsity Lions. She allowed three hits and two runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Lunsford threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Lunsford recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Varsity Lions.

James took the loss for Archer High School. She went two innings, allowing four runs on three hits and walking one.

Lunsford started the game for Varsity Lions. She surrendered seven runs on eight hits over three innings, striking out one Tullis started the game for Archer High School. She lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and six runs

Varsity Lions tallied one home run on the day. Gadson went yard in the sixth inning.

Varsity Lions totaled 11 hits. Gadson, Lunsford, and Kelly all collected multiple hits for Varsity Lions. Lunsford and Gadson each managed three hits to lead Varsity Lions.

Archer High School collected 11 hits. Hollingsworth, Barth, Berkhiser, and Sanders all had multiple hits for Archer High School. Hollingsworth went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Archer High School in hits.
