Tonight, the Ice Lions came out on FIRE against Walton! That wasn’t the case the last time Ridge played them, losing 6-0. Tonight was a different story. The Ice Lions came out with full pressure and intensity and didn’t let up for 60 minutes.
Four minutes into the game, Jack Hooper scored an unassisted goal to start off the scoring for the Ice Lions. A minute later, John Carter put it in back of the net, with assists from Carter Bilz and Ryan Holly. With two minutes left in the first period, Trevor Delaere scored an unassisted goal. Ice Lions up 3-0 after 1 period of play.
The Ice Lions came out just as intense in the 2nd period and put the puck past the apposing goal tender. Trevor Delaere put in his second goal of the night with an assist from Amir Sarvghad. The Ice Lions continued rolling with another goal from Aidan Hammond and assists from Nathaniel MacNeill and Ryan Holly to make it 5-0 with 9:17 left in the 2nd period. Walton put in three quick goals and the 2nd period ended 5-3.
In the 3rd period, Trevor Delaere put in his 3rd goal of the night to give him the hat trick. Ice Lions goaltender Nick King came out strong and shut down Walton from scoring again to seal the victory. Nick had a very strong game making several ESPN highlight worthy saves.
The Ice Lions had 31 shots and Walton had 18 for the night.
