Lions News · Lions Swim and Dive sweeps Twin Challenge

The Varsity Swim and Dive Team kicked off its season this past Saturday evening in the 5th Annual Twin Challenge. This meet features four teams — two from Gwinnett County, two from Cobb County — coached by two sets of twins:

  • Peachtree Ridge (Gwinnett County) – Coach Jeremy Laird
  • Campbell (Cobb County) – Coach Jonathan Laird
  • Duluth (Gwinnett County) – Coach Jim Reason
  • Kennesaw Mountain (Cobb County) – Coach Dave Reason

The Varsity Lions swept the meet, winning both men’s and women’s events:

  • Men’s team rankings:
    • Peachtree Ridge – 189 points
    • Duluth – 171 points
    • Kennesaw Mountain – 113 points
    • Campbell – 74 points
  • Women’s team rankings:
    • Peachtree Ridge – 191 points
    • Kennesaw Mountain – 140 points
    • Duluth – 129 points
    • Campbell – 92 points

Combined scores gives the Gwinnett teams a 5th straight victory over the Cobb teams. Based on the Twin Challenge meet results, the Varsity Swim and Dive Lions qualified 39 individual athletes to the County Meet in January and 23 individual and relay events to the State Meet in February.

Our next meet is Saturday, November 15 at 7:15pm at Collins Hill Aquatic Center against Collins Hill, so come out and support your Swim and Dive Lions!
